I can’t believe that we are at the end of June! What an unexpected year. As we head in to our summer break we want to thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigated uncharted waters this spring. I have joked with the staff that we survived three “Septembers” this year as we had one actual September, a new one after spring break and then yet another with the voluntary return to school. It has been incredible watching the teachers, support staff and students learn to adapt to these various stages.
We do not know what September will look like but are preparing as a district for both a hybrid model of learning and other options depending on what stage we are in. Until a vaccine is found and administered it seems like this is the “new” normal that we will be moving back and forth between. We have learned some great things during the past few months and will continue to adapt as we journey through the pandemic life of COVID-19.
It has not been the same “June” as past years and it will not be the same start up in the fall but as we learn what it will look like we will make sure you are informed as well. Hopefully this information will be available by the end of August. The school district will communicate out what it will look like as get closer to September.
Some June highlights for us at Willway have been the voluntary return of some students on Tuesdays and Thursdays, an outdoor celebration of our Grade five’s leaving us this year and assembling the year end slideshow that will be emailed out to families. We hope you enjoy it.
We wish you and your family a wonderful, healthy summer full of local adventures!
